‘Working-class school’ eyes up former campus

A CONTROVERSIAL teacher who plans to open a free school for working-class kids is in talks over a proposed site.Katharine Birbalsingh, who caused a stir at the Tory Party conference in October when she slammed the country’s state education system, wants to open a four-form entry free school focusing on high expectations of behaviour. It would have a strong focus on academic subjects and encouraging competition between pupils.

The proposals have angered unions in Lambeth and Southwark, which have described her plan as “an insult to teachers”. read full article in SLP
